I Love Birch Beer

Moving back to the east coast, on top of crazy breakfast foods like Scrapple, has afforded me the abilty to acquire birch beer out of soda fountains. For people reading this blog not from the northeast, birch beer is essentially root beer, but instead of sassafras, the bark of a birch tree is used in the ingredients. It has a distinctly red color and tastes slightly different from root beer. I feel lucky because the lunch counter a few blocks from my house has it in its fountain.
