So, since a Wegman's store opened in Hunt Valley, my mom has become fascinated by black truffles and their price. The store has an enormous mushroom area including a locked plastic box containing rice and black truffles for sale. When the store opened, my mom noted that the price of the truffles was about $399/lb. She has then tracked the price weekly when she goes shopping, and noticed the price go up to $799/lb., more than the price of gold. She's been tracking truffle prices like the stock market.
